Suggested Itineraries

Option 1 (4 hours)

Description:

This tour can start from the center Naxos, at the traditional pottery workshop in Damala.  Visitors can watch closely the process of processing the clay from the beginning to the final phase.

Next stop will be at Halki Village. The old town of Naxos to taste Citron Liquer which has protected destination of origin.  At the famous Vallindra’s  distillery of 1862, you can hear how the distillation process is done but mainly try Citrus in this area, which still has more excellent aroma and taste.

Continues up to Apeiranthos Village, which is not an ordinary village. It’s a village that keeps vivid the Cretan tradition and origin, has history interest and at least 5 museums that worth a visit…  Good food options for the ones that wish to have their lunch on the mountains.

Next and last Stop would be the well-known “Kouros at Flerio”.  Flerio area is in the gorge near Melanes, where you may see two abandoned statues.  The first one is a Kouros statue with the right leg broken, while the second one, 700 meters away, is also unfinished.

Option 2 (6 hours)

Next Stop would be the well-known Apollo Seaside village.  There you may see the larger Kouros of the island. Which is a half-finished male statue, 10,45 meters high dated to the beginning of 6th century BC.

On the way back, our last stop will be at the village of Eggares, where you will visit the Olive Press Museum. Here you can enjoy a free tour and brief presentation.  Then you will have the chance to enjoy a complementary tasting of a variety of infused olive oils and olive ingredient snacks.

Option 3 (4,5 hours + Hiking): Tour at the Village of Skado

Our driver will pick you up from your hotel, and drop you off at the starting point of the hiking tour at Stavro Keramotis, heading North and parallel to the country road until the “Door of Koronou”. Then, via the cobblestone path we reach the historical settlement of Koronos. Walk through the central square of the Village, called Platsa, and leave from the northern exit of the settlement. We cross a rural area where the most important sites of the area are located, the fountain and two watermills. From here the view of the chapels of Agios Ioannis and Agios Georgios can be seen up the path and through the tree branches. The hike ends at Skado Village, a small village of only 30 inhabitants located on the mountainous side of the island, 34 km North East of Chora. Built amphitheatrically and surrounded by greenery, it is a unique experience. You will visit the historical olive press of the village, as well as the Church of Panagia which was built during the Turkish occupation. The old mini market of “Fakoureli” will give you the chance to taste some local delicacies and enjoy a Greek coffee or refreshment. 

You will be returned to your hotel by minivan.  

You will need:  Comfortable clothes, sneakers, shoes or hiking boots, water, sunscreen and a hat.
