Highlights: Pickup & drop-off at your Hotel. Visit two traditional wineries in the countryside of Santorini and explore the winemaking. Taste all the major wine styles of Santorini served with local cheese, bread and olives. Visit the Red and the Black sand beach. Reach the highest point of Santorini, Prophet Elias Mountain at 600mt. (2000ft) and gaze at a 360-degree view of the island and the Aegean Sea. Explore the traditional village of Pyrgos and stroll through the old Venetian alleys. Discover the village of Oia and experience an amazing stroll in the rim of Santorini. Experience a fun, relaxing and flavorful day at the most stunning Greek island.
Itinerary (suggested): After meeting up with your guide, the trip starts with a visit to the vineyards. The island has a long tradition in the winemaking and it is renowned for its outstanding crisp dry white wines and the elegant sweet dessert wines, the Vinsanto. You will visit two traditional wineries of Santorini for a wine-tasting and a short stroll through the low basket vines to discover the island’s unique viticulture.
Afterwards we will head south, to admire the famous beaches of Santorini, the Black and the Red Beach. The red layers on the cliffs create a spectacular sight and one of the most renowned beaches of Greece, the Red Beach. After a short stop for photos at the Red Beach, we will drive a short distance to the largest beach of Santorini, the Black Beach, covered with black volcanic sand. The Black Beach, with its deep blue waters offers an amazing view to the Aegean Sea. Optional stop for lunch at a coastal restaurant.
Next, we will drive up to the highest point of Santorini, Prophet Elias Mountain at 600 mt. (2000 ft), offering a unique 360-degree view of Santorini and the Aegean islands. On the way down, we will make a stop in the medieval village of Pyrgos, for a short stroll through the old Venetian alleys dating from the medieval Era.
Next, it’s time to head north to the other side of the island and discover Oia – the town of the sailors. What you should expect here is a short walking tour to admire the white washed houses and of course to gaze at some of the best views this world can offer! Free Leisure time for shopping, refreshments and the chance to experience one of the world’s best sunsets.* Optional lunch at a cliff-view or coastal restaurant. On the way back to Fira we will make a short photo stop at the artistic Firostefani, to capture the famous big white church which is part of every Santorini postcard! The tour ends at your Hotel.
