Sail to Poliegos or Kleftiko by Chryssovalandou
CRUISE DESCRIPTION >>
We set off in the morning from the port of Adamas. We sail along the coast and leaving behind Milos bay we can see some traditional fishing villages (Skinopi, Klima, Areti, Fourkovouni) as well as the colorful little houses built right over the seafront, which are called Sirmata. Then we reach Arkoudes (Bears) big rocky islands of volcanic origin that shape form of a bear.
While sailing north, northwest on the right we see Plathienas beach and on the left the two small islands Akradies. Keep on sailing with your own help we will approach Glaronisia, two volcanic islands unique in the Hellenic space due to the geological formation of the rock. Here we could swim in the incredibly clear sea ideal also for snorkeling while a cup of coffee is waiting on board.
We depart for Poliegos, an island east of Milos, with the inviting clear crystal water of the sea that reminds you of a natural swimming pool with no end. We stop here for 45 minutes to swim but also to enjoy our late morning snack. Leaving this island of paradise we sail towards the eastern coast of Milos to admire the old sulfur mines and the amazing beach of Firligos where we stop for 30 minutes to swim in the deep blue and turquoise water. We return onboard the boat to have the enjoyment of a fresh fruit. Sail along the south coasts of the island. We pass by Paleochori, Agia Kiriaki, and our next stop is the beach of Gerakas or Ammotsoulithres for a 30 minutes swimming (not accessible by car).
While you are swimming or enjoying the sun we are preparing snacks for all of us to eat with ”ouzo” or wine. Our destination is now Kleftiko and we sail at full speed to the pirate hideaway. After passing one to one all southern beaches we reach impressive Kleftiko with the innumerable breathtaking caves. We stay there for two hours to be charmed by the magic beauty of the landscape. It’s time now to taste some sea food and traditional dishes of the island. After lunch, we keep on our sailing to the west coasts of Milos and see the cave of Sikia and other charming beaches. We are now on the north western part of the island and have our eyes on the imposing cape of Vani, one rock of 80 meters high, vertically cut with a knife in horizontal layers situated next to the old abandoned factory of manganese. You could ask the crew about its story. It’s already afternoon and sunset time! Take some pictures to keep you memories about this unforgettable day, and we will offer you a homemade sweet from a local pastry shop to complete all your sweet moments on board the sailing catamaran boat.
